About the Artist

When did you start writing/producing/playing music and what or who were your early passions and influences? What was it about music and/or sound that drew you to it?

A couple of us started mucking around on acoustic guitars about 4 years ago and had a blast! In no time with the help of some close and mutual friends, we had a full four-piece and started “dead routes”. We found that we naturally all had different musical influences and passions, but during the creative process we generated music that was a collective and fluid mix of all four of us. That was the beauty of it. From then, we have been producing music stemming from all sorts of genres but not steering clear of our key sound.

Could you describe what part of the creative process is particularly dear to you?

For us the most effective part of our creative process is simply having a couple beers and jamming. One of us will bring something to rehearsal, whether its a riff, drum groove or anything. From there we will launch in head first and start adding our own parts to the initial input. We will then see what works and what does not work, sometimes sitting on these jams for weeks. Eventually we will will all click and end up with something that starts sounding like a full part or even a full song.

About the Release

Tell us about your new album Single ‘My Siamese Twin’. Is there a story behind it? What were the influences or inspirations to write it?

Unlike our previous and debut release ‘Concrete Sofa’, My Siamese Twin takes a darker and heavier turn. The instrumentation you hear in My Siamese Twin is heavily influenced by the alternative rock scene of the 90s. Heavy riffs, loud vocals and high energy, this new track is an amalgamation of our love for thick n heavy rock n roll and can be felt from the get go.

What’s your view of lyrics with “messages”? Is there a main message you want to be delivered within the Single?

In terms of the lyrcism, My Siamese Twin is inspired by the film “Split”. It’s about having an alter ego which you can’t disconnect from. Inside us all are multiple personalities, some more devilish than others and some that we wish occurred more often.

Releasing music is such a mammoth effort. What are the biggest challenges? What things did you learn in the process?

We are pretty new to getting our music out to the world and there has definitely been some challenges. We discovered how important the promotion process is in order to get our music to as many different ears as we can, and how to effectively use this in our favour. We have obviously learnt about the extreme influence social media has on releasing music and how it can sometimes make or break your success.
